Firstly the Flying Eagles led by coach John Obuh have Ghana and Cameroon to contend with in their ground and then finally the team will attempt to win the trophy and enter into the history book as the sixth Nigerian team that have taken the diadem.
Nigeria have already won the AYC five times, in 1983, ’85, ’87, ’89 and 2005
.
Before jetting out to Tripoli last Saturday night some of the players spoke of their expectation at the tournament, which will be a qualifier for the FIFA Under_20 World Cup in Colombia.
Interestingly majority of the team members are from the Eaglets class of 2009. Boosted by the presence of their coach John Obuh, these players seem to be ready to aim for greater glory.
“We are prepared to do our best to make Nigeria proud. We respect all the teams and will only let our game do the talking. We are going to do our best to win the trophy,” said striker Bright Ejike
“We have good players and everybody wants to do his best so that we can achieve our objective. That gives me so much confidence. “
